You are bidding on:

A Pair of Vintage Wooden Clothes Tongs and a Vintage Posser.

This very useful set of items were used in the kitchen and scullery before the invention of spinner/dryers and comprise of:

*  A rubber posser, often called a posher or sink plunger. These had a mulitude of uses from lathering up the liquid, to unblocking the plug hole when needed!

The posser measures approximately 4 inches in diameter and stands 12 inches tall

* A pair of clothes tongs or pinchers. The measure approximately 13.5 inches long and sit at 8.5 inches wide when not in use.

The tongs are made from wood - I would say it is pine - but I do not claim to know for sure. .

The two legs are joined together with strong tin-plated steel strip which act as a sprung hinge. All four of the rivets are in a good condition and securely fastened, even though they do rattle a little do to the wood shrinking over the years.

All-in-all a beautiful period set of kitchenalia that would give many more years of service.
