Vintage Flame Mahogany Bookcase Bookshelf Cabinet

This is a gorgeous vintage English flame mahogany bookcase cabinet. It has a traditional beveled edge on its cornice with dental molding and it features a cabinet that has a total of 4 shelves, 3 adjustable, and they have 2 *astragal wood glazed glass doors with decorative wood trim designs. The doors have a lock with 1 key. The lower cabinet has 2 shelves, 1 removable, and 2 beautiful doors that have flame mahogany surfaces and decorative wood trim designs. The doors have lock mechanism with 1 key present. In addition it has 2 drawers with dovetail joinery that have traditional fronts with fancy round brass handles. This piece may show minor age appropriate signs of wear including scratches and wood imperfections but as shown it is overall cosmetically and structurally in excellent condition and it is strong and sturdy. This beautiful furniture will be welcome in any room you choose to use it in since it blends in well with many decors.

What is astragal (wood or lead) glazing? As it pertains to later period furniture, it is a method of securing glass to the straight, semi-circular, or shaped moldings found on glass doors and windows of furniture. On newer reproduction furniture, the astragal molding may set atop the glass to give the appearance of glazing where on older English furniture, it is not uncommon for each piece of glass to be cut to shape and glazed into the molding.
