Vintage English Vernier Scale Theodolite - Staff Mount

A lovely quality vintage theodolite.

It is not marked with a maker's name but is very similar to those made by the London based maker - Stanley.

The upper and lower halves of the instrument rotate independently of each other controlled by the turnscrew on the underside. The adjacent edges have a silvered engraved vernier scale ring.

The micrometer style vernier means that a site may be set out to a high degree of accuracy.

It is in very crisp condition and has no play or slackness in the mechanical action.

It is very portable and used by mounting the base on a staff.

The wires are missing from the three slots that should have them. They are easily replaced.

The diamater is about 74.8mm. Height - mounted on the base about 140mm.
