Vintage B&L USA Ray Ban B-15 TGM Driving Aviator

Ray-Ban sunglasses............The World's Finest Sunglasses.  In the late 1920's, the U.S. Army Air Corps approached Bausch & Lomb with an urgent request for an optical glass that would help fliers overcome the brutal glare of the sun. Responding to this need, Bausch & Lomb created the first Ray-Ban glass, which not only met, but far exceeded the exacting Air Corps standards. Today, Ray-Ban sunglasses are still manufactured to standards that produce the same level of excellence. Each pair provides full glare protection while preserving peak visual acuity. Ray-Ban sunglasses also provide 100% protection from the harmful effects of UV rays. Their finely ground and polished lenses are free of the waves, blemishes and other defects that can distort vision. The frames too are produced under the same code of quality.

The Ray Ban Aviator has been in production since 1937 and has become a design classic.  Recognised the world over for its style and functionality, it has been much imitated.  I have been collecting vintage Ray Bans for thirty years and only ever bought genuine examples.  They have been stored in their case in a drawer as part of my collection. 

These black chrome Aviators for driving are in very good condition. 

With their usual attention to quality Baush & Lomb plated their black frames with black chrome, not paint or enamel, the frames are in excellent condition.  They measure 140mm wide (hinge to hinge).  The lenses are fair condition. There are scratches plesase bear this in mind and bid accordingly.  The lenses are 62mm wide by 52mm deep.  The are paddle arms are 130mm long, the hinges are good and tight. 

The right lens bears the Ray.Ban logo in white Both lenses bear the BL etching.  The bridge pads both bear the BL stamp.  The brow ridge is stamped B&L Ray-Ban USA on top and underneath.  The size 62[]14 (Large) is also printed on the underside.

The sunglasses come with their original driving navigator Ray Ban case and lens information hang tag. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a vintage Bausch and Lomb Ray Ban Driving Aviator in very good condition.
