Vintage 1970s Polly Peck Little Black dress

VINTAGE POLLY PECK EVENING DRESS SIZE 10/12

This is a vintage Polly Peck dress purchased  in 1971. Designed by Sybil Zelker it was Made in England and is size 10 (old size 10) approx size 12 today.

Black grossgrain fabric, dry clean only it was only worn a few times by me and has languished in a suitcase ever since. The hem has been altered, I can’t remember whether I wanted it shorter or it was lengthened.

Style is empire line, high front, cross-over straps at the back and a long side zipper. The skirt is an A line design and measures 45 inches around the hem. The length of the dress is 34 inches from the shoulder. The only change is the buttons – originally they were self fabric but these have gone, so I have added two plain buttons of the same period so the dress can be worn. The skirt starting below the bust is fully lined the measurements are as follows:

Bust 35 inches (89.5 cm)

Hips 37 inches (94.5 cm)

Length measured from the nape of the neck on the dummy is 34 inches (87 cm)

It was the typical “Little Black Dress” for a girl in the early 1970s.
