Vintage 1950's Evening Gown Dress by Christian Dior 6-8

 Rare Vintage Evening gown by Christian dior 1950's

Shimmering pale green silk, the dress has an almost Edwardian silhouette, the stunning, crystal encrusted bodice rests on the outer edge of the shoulder emphasising the high nipped in wasp waist and hourglass shape.

Fabulous, heavily jewelled bodice, the dress is drenched in hundreds of tear drop rhinestones, assorted glass beads and faceted baguette crystals which are simply breathtaking.

All teardrop rhinestones are anchored at the top this allows movement, they are of the most incredible quality, sparkling as they catch the light.

The bodice is also embroidered with metallic silver silk threads.

Lots of hand stitching, please note the waist all hand stitched.

The bodice has metal bones to all seams, front bust and side seams.

Concealed metal zip fastening to back under bodice, the outer silk bodice then crosses over the back and is secured with tiny hook and eye fastenings.

Fully lined in off white silk voile.

Two full length tulle petticoats, with further layers of gathered tulle stemming from the back of the waist forming a peacock tail effect, this give an almost bustle like framework which expands the fullness at the back of the dress.

The dress still retains its original white framed plastic swing tag attached to the inside seam near the hem ‘Christian Dior Modele Original’.

The silk dress label within the bodice reads- Christian Dior- London Ltd U.K Regd,

                                                                    Modele Original made in England.

The serial number is ‘34907’

Small paper label safety pinned within ‘Permanilla Reg’d V4804’.

A Glorious piece of French Couture, this is a museum worthy example in excellent condition. 

The dress appears to be unworn, please note how the silk fabric retains its original structure, there is no flattening to the tulip skirt, lines are crisp.  The silk has an incredible sheen.

Remarkable condition save for two discreet marks, one tiny mark on the bodice, another on the skirt, these are only noticeable on very close inspection, I am happy to supply more pictures if required.

The dress is small in size, approx 6-8.

Measured on the inside of the dress-

The bust is approx 31.5 inches

The waist is 27 inches

Underarm to waist is 9 inches.

Waist to hem 38.5 inches

It may be possible to make the dress bodice bigger, the hook and eyes could be professionally moved this would add approx 2-3 inches.

This is a timeless and rare vintage beauty, an investment purchase that will never loose its value as a masterpiece of Dior Couture.
