Most
items do not require bidding, but offers are welcome. If you, or a loved one
has an illness, and you need a book on the subject, you will not be charged for
the book. Just write me. All you will pay for is the S&H, plus my listing
fee, and EBay’s commission.
We treat all books just prior to shipment with a book
cleaning agent to remove any dust or residue. The cleaner is often mistaken for
tobacco smoke- but quickly dissipates when removed from the shipping envelope

Many on-line booksellers describe their
books using a comprehensive grading system but I don’t since almost always
these are new or like mint copies. Grading is very subjective and I have been
burnt too many times myself. Not all
books will be in publisher’s wrap and occasionally there may be may be very minor
imperfections but I will try to note these. We sell high quality material – no
book club editions. You will never get a beat-up or abused copy, and you
will be satisfied. If you are not, I’ll make it good.
I have sold books for a fraction of the prices you’d find
at even the best discounted merchants. While
you may find a similar title listed for less, the chances are that the shipping
and handling charges will marginalize that “bargain”. And so called “Free shipping”? Well, don’t
you love paying three times what you should? Be careful of "standard rate
shipping", usually it means you will pay a lot more than you should.
Feedback: Most welcomed. But use common sense – don’t be
deterred by an occasional negative – you just can’t please everyone. Too, some
individuals feel compelled to yield this tool without making an attempt to
contact me – bad form. The few negatives feedbacks I received were withdraw
because they were mistakes and intended for other sellers, so please be careful
- Negative feedback is deleterious – you can always contact me and you will
receive an answer. Please contact me first if you are not pleased, or
if there is a problem of ANY sort.
A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT
TEXTBOOKS: Textbooks are problematic for
me so I have elected to list them as new. Some may actually be used copies but
in new condition. These books sell upwards of a hundred dollars in college
bookstores. But unlike them, I don’t believe in extortion and have priced them
realistically.
A NOTE ABOUT NEW
BOOKS THAT ARE NOT RECENTLY PUBLISHED: Some books listed as new are indeed new, but were
published several years ago. These are
from new old stock, meaning that the book
has never been used but may have wear from long term storage.
A NOTE ABOUT
ANTIQUARIAN AND COLLECTIBLE BOOKS: Monthly carrying costs increase when a listing has
several photos. Since the proper evaluation can not be done without several
detailed photos, they will be provided upon inquiry or expression of interest.
Our items are subject to prior sale. Though unlikely that
you may purchase a book that has been sold through another site, should it
happen you will be immediately refunded.
Refunds:
I have no set policy since every case is different but I guarantee
satisfaction. Refunds for delivery or
condition problems that may arise must be requested by email within 5 days of
receipt of the item. Returns are only allowed if the item differs significantly
from the description in the listing. I
make every effort to accommodate you. I have voluntarily refunded when
inadvertently paid twice or when the postage was not the actual amount. In
general: no fuss, and no problem.
Handling Charges: I
hate handling charges but rising costs necessitate it. I have heard horror
stories about buyers getting banged on this – and it is unconscionable. When you make a multiple purchase there is only one
handling charge since the handling charge represents our costs for the bubble
envelope we use, the printing of labels, the time and expense to go the Post
Office and prepare customs documents where necessary.
Shipping: Domestic shipments are made by MEDIA MAIL unless you specifically ask for
another service. On occasion I have shipped media mail when the customer wanted
another service but we always refund the difference in such an instance.
Seller assumes no responsibility in the event of loss or
damage of uninsured items
Military: Of course we ship to APO
addresses. I will not charge for books destined to US
service personnel stationed in a combat zone. Pay only S&H, and my
listing fee and EB fees.
International
Customers: I enjoy doing business with you! I would appreciate it if Canadian buyers use
Postal Money Order in US
FUNDS, please.
As a general rule, I recommend GLOBAL PRIORITY MAIL WERE AVAILABLE. I will
always give you options however to find the most economical way to ship.
Paying with a credit card:
Yes you can use a credit card –through EB.
Paying with a credit card from outside the USA: Non
Pay-Pal users can also make a payment by credit card through
Moneybookers. Please contact me for details.
About Me: I can’t adequately convey my thanks to the very many of you who have
turned this venture into a journey. A journey filled with unexpected delight as
customers have become friends.
My active involvement as an independent publicist
allowed me to collect many titles, some by authors I represent but most
were the works of any number of writers I was not familiar with, and on a
myriad number of subjects.
The propensity to acquire books, for whatever reason,
brings with it the need to continually assess and expand one’s lebensraum. Booklovers understand that even though it is
possible to accommodate one’s personal space to invasion by marauding copies of
Dickens, the time comes when you feel like you are in that episode of Star Trek, The Trouble with Tribbles - that
“they” are everywhere. That I had slipped over the edge was apparent when I
found a copy of the “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold “ in my refrigerator.
In truth, my acquisitions had purpose. My aggregate was
intended for distribution to missionaries, schools and others. Logistically,
getting books to those who really need them can be a Herculean task at
times. It also requisites a good deal of
money. So, with financial resources strained, I decided to sell off some books
to help to defray these costs. I am not then, a book seller in the conventional
sense. As for this being lucrative; well
it is probably a lot less viable than you imagine. Too, I happen to adhere to
the quaint notion that integrity demands going all out for the customer. Oh, I
have been taken advantage of and have encountered some people whose frugality
would make Scrooge wince, but I have also had wonderful experiences too. I have
taken chances on people and it has been a fruitful effort: As Will Rogers said,
“ Why not go out on a limb? That’s where the fruit is.”
A book must be an ice-axe to
break the seas frozen inside our soul. ~Franz Kafka
