Sheeting systems are often used when applying mosaic to floors and walls. The common method
employed by most manufacturers is to glue a fibre mesh to the underside
of the tile.
Our system uses a
face mounted adhesive film with excellent strength characteristics.
This film is strong enough to hold the tiles in place for transit and
installation, yet is designed to release after installation without
leaving adhesive residue on the tiles. Why use sheeted tiles?
1.The film is very hard to tear or stretch but can be easily cut with a craft
knife for minor adjustments.
2. Transparent film allows the installer to view the design. The adhesive is
water resistant, so no adhesion is lost due to accidental exposure to water.
3.The film is mounted on the face of the tiles allowing 100% contact of the
back of the tile to the mortar and protects the grout lines from dirt etc during
the installation.
4.Full contact with the face of the tile means it has self levelling
properties, eliminating minor discrepancies in tile thickness.
5.Ensures accurate alignment, minimal grout lines resulting in a crisp clean
finish (approx 1-1.5mm grout lines).
6.When the tiles have been fixed and set, the clear film is simply peeled
off, leaving no residue on the surface of the tile.
7. Sheets are easily stored and trasported. We label all our boxes with the
appropriate contents.
8. Sheet position diagrams detail a precise layout for the installer to
follow.
9.These sheets are not available
anywhere else, as this service is exclusive to our company. We have
been restoring and installing Victorian tiles for over 10 years and
have developed this system to speed up installation and ensure
accuracy. In our time we have seen many poor installations by
inexperienced tilers. This is largely due to the requirement of laying
such designs tile by tile.
TILE SPECIFICATIONS: Full vitrification of these tiles ensures
longevity. This modern tile is durable, resistant, and easily maintained. They
are resistant to scratches from foot traffic and machinery passing over them.
The tiles will maintain their original colour for many years as the colour is
solid throughout the body. With a very low porosity they can be used in all
conditions, inside and out, on floors or walls and are equally suitable for dry
and humid atmospheres. These tiles conform to the NFP 61-405 standards (class B1
of the European EN176 standards) They comply with classifications U4,P4, E3 and
C2.
