This is a lovely book generally in good condition although the front cover has come away from the spine & one page is comletely loose. There a number of children, men, women, animals (dog, cat, rabbit and bird) scraps, the same with cherubs, storks & babies & also flowers. The rest appear to be American advertising trade cards? and cut outs (mainly from Illinois, Chicago, San Fransisco & New York) consisting of Dr Price's flavourings & extracts etc (Steel & Price), John Kranz fine confectionery, Clark's Spool Cotton, Armbrecht Bros - Druggists, Paradise Flour & Dr Warner's Coraline Corsets.

The back cover of the book has the impressed date of March 1876 (patent) with an embossed intricate swag and banner motif. The front cover (as seen) is beautifully decorated with 3 embossed portrait pictures with heavily gilded borders, on a background of grasses. The spine also has an embossed and impressed gilded pattern featuring an urn full of foliage the border pattern is very gothic in style.

I don't know very much about scraps etc apart from the fact I enjoyed making an album from more modern scraps - when I was younger.
