Victorian Collage
Overall Size: 43.5cm x 53cm. Image Size: 31.5cm x 42.5
Outer mount is an old picture frame wide slip. This frames the collage which has been stuck to grey paper, then stuck on board and then onto purple paper. The collage appears to have been cut from Victorian cards.
The back is quite interesting as a sheet of the Saturday May 12th 1888 Public Ledger Newspaper has been used to cover the back. There are loads of sailing notices, what ships are going where and with what cargo and duties that have been paid on coffee, wines and spirits. Shipping movement of: cloves, ginger, arrowroot etc.
Condition: Actual mount nearly deceased! Collage in good condition. Colours in particular have remained vibrant. If this was properly framed and perhaps double framed to show the paper at the back, this would make a lovely, interesting picture. Certainly a one-off, that others wouldn't have!
