Very Old Hand Carved Wooden Lamp Base

Size: Height: 38cm.  Base Dia: 23cm.  Circum. of Main 'Ball': 62cm.  Top neck Dia: 3.5cm  

Hand carved, but I honestly am not sure about what wood it is.  It is a hard wood though.

This is another old family piece just unpacked.  Amazing how things are around you for years and you don't really look at them!  Now, trying to describe it, I believe that the base is one wood and the ball column is another.  The ball piece looks like it may have come from a very elegant staircase at one time.  This however, is just a supposition.  It is though, a lovely lamp base.  Makes a statement in any room, particularly with the right shade and is very heavy, so will not get knocked over easily.

It hasn't seen the light of day for ages, so I cannot guarantee that the wiring meets today's standards.  So that does need to be sorted by the purchaser to ensure safety. 

Condition:   Wiring needs to be checked. Needs a good polish to really bring up the grain in the wood.  Good order, a magnificent lamp base.

It is big! It is heavy! Hence postage cost. Sorry!
