Item specifics - Antique Textiles
Product: Table LinensStyle/ Origin: Madeira
 --Colour: Cream
Material: LinenCondition: Used
Type/ Features: Embroidery

This is one of the nicest Madeira tablecloths I have listed - and certainly one of the biggest. It is a very large rectangle, measuring 116 inches by 64 inches - so it would be suitable for a large dining table - although I don't think you would want to use it for eating from - but for decorative purposes it would certainly make a statement! As you can see from the pictures, it has scalloped edges, and the most fabulous Madeira needlework and embroidery all over - including amazingly detailed 'cornucopia' panels in all four corners, and lots of dense floral cutwork, as well as many 'bridges'. There is also the most beautiful colour variation in the embroidery, random, but obviously intentional, from brown to cream. The work is almost as beautiful on the reverse as it is on the top side.  It is in such excellent condition that I don't think it has been used very much. It has a laundry mark in one corner.   Although it is  very old - it came in an auction lot of extremely good  (and expensive!) antique linens, which had obviously come from a special collection - it is in superb condition. It is so intricate that it is hard to examine every last bit of it, but I haven't found any damage - just a few places where the embroiderer has fastened off and the very occasional tiny missed stitch, but no breaks or holes. It was, I think, professionally laundered, many many years ago, and then put away. I have decided that it was so beautifully laundered, that it would be better not to launder it again - so I am selling it just as it is. Given its age, it actually smells quite fresh.

International customers are most welcome but please note that you should be able to pay by PayPal. I cannot accept dollar cheques. Otherwise Sterling Cheques or Postal Orders are fine.

Return policy
The items I sell are all vintage or antique and therefore usually have some faults, which I try to detail as closely as possible. However, I know how disappointing it is when an online purchase doesn't live up to expectations, so if you are really unhappy with whatever you receive, please contact me as soon as possible, for a full refund. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any problems or questions.
