VOGUE KNITTING INTERNATIONAL
SPECIAL 10TH ANNIVERSARY ISSUE
Fall 1992
128 pages
** KNITS GO WEST * CHIC PARIS GREYS * BIRTHDAY SWEATER
* WESTERN EXPOSURE * THE NEW PRAIRIE NEUTRALS * INNOVATIVE CHIC
* DESIGNERS * VOGUE CLASSIC * THE BEST OF VK **
This Special Anniversary issue of Vogue Knitting International includes 35 designer patterns, plus a Special Advertising Section titled “The Best of VK,” spotlighting six of VK’s favorite sweaters from the past 10 years. The feature article on socks as the perfect portable project also includes four sock designs. Designers in this issue include Norah Gaughan, Michele Woodford, Michele Rose, Ann Denton, Liza Prior Lucy, Pam Allen, Candi Jensen, Sally Lee, Laurie Macmillan, Regina S. Levin, Anne Mieke, Kathy Donovan, Lily Chin, DKNY, Missoni, Betty Jackson, Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis, and Adrienne Vittadini. This is one of my favorite VK issues. The Paris greys are lush, chic and sophisticated. The Western and Prairie Neutral features are jaw-dropping in their artistry – the bright Southwestern colors, Navajo designs, crewel tapestry and Victorian crazy quilt embroidery. If you’re a White Buffalo unspun wool fan, there is a man’s Hudson Bay Striped Jacket to show a creative use for this yarn besides Cowichan Indian sweaters or felting. And DKNY’s Enchanted Forest Aran jacket is a timeless masterpiece. All designs included in this issue are pictured below, with captions identifying the designer together with sizing and descriptive details. Many of the designs are oversized and suitable for larger sizes.
FASHION:
• Birthday Sweater – Celebrate as VK turns 10!
• Paris En Gris – Continental chic in moody grey.
• Western Exposure – At home on the range and on the street.
• The New Prairie Neutrals – Neutral knits with frontier spirit.
• Innovative Chic – Plaid and patchwork pizzazz!
• Designers – Fall favorites from DKNY, Missoni and Betty Jackson.
• Vogue Classic – The ever versatile twinset makes a welcome comeback.
FEATURES:
• Decreasing – Elizabeth Zimmerman and Meg Swansen take a fresh look at an everyday technique for shaping raglan sleeves.
• The Chenille Story – Scott Rankins explores fashion’s favorite fiber and offers tips for working with this fiber and unique suggestions for its use.
• The Piecing Solution – Problem solving for machine knitters, by Sally Melville.
• The Shetland Islands – Melanie Falick tours the home of Fair Isle and Shetland lace.
• Stitch Glossary: Crazy Quilt Embroidery – Traditional Victorian embellishment … perfect for knits. The stitches in this article, some of which are used in the crazy-quilt patterned jacket designed by Pam Allen in this issue, are: fern stitch, rosette motif, butterfly chain stitch, feather stitch, double feather stitch, fly stitch, overlapped fly stitch, double row sly stitch, herringbone stitch, Breton stitch, feathered chain stitch, spine chain stitch, blanket stitch, open Cretan stitch, detached wheatear stitch, and wheatear stitch.
• Nicky’s Knack – Polly Roberts introduces master knitter Nicky Epstein.
• Have Socks, Will Travel – Theresa Gaffey profiles the perfect portable project, including four designs (see picture).
Very good condition, light cover wear (see cover photo), no markings, torn or missing pages.

If you are interested in bidding on other items, payment may be delayed until you are finished bidding so that shipping can be combined. If you do not have a Paypal account, please feel free to contact me to discuss payment. Payment is appreciated within 30 days or by the end of the month, if more time is needed, please contact me.
Please note that when paying by eCheck, PayPal holds funds for approximately 4 business days for U.S. customers and 7-10 business days for international. Payment is not considered received and items are not shipped until payment has cleared.
I make every effort to describe items as accurately as possible and provide as many pictures of the item(s) as possible. I check each item prior to listing so that I can provide an accurate description of its condition and any defects. I do not list incomplete pattern books and will include photocopies of any missing pages with the publication (which will be mentioned in the auction description). However, I am not perfect and can overlook a defect, so please bring any problems to my attention so that an acceptable solution can be worked out. You can buy with confidence that I stand behind my auctions to guarantee your satisfaction.
Please contact me with ANY questions you may have prior to purchasing or bidding on an item. I respond to all inquiries within 24 hours and will gladly answer any questions/provide any details I can.
Items are almost always shipped the same day payment is received, or the next business day if paid on a weekend or holiday or after business hours on a weekday. I deliver packages to the post office for shipment on a daily basis (including Saturdays until 1:30 p.m.).
Insurance is offered as an optional add-on for all domestic (U.S.) shipments. Ebay will soon remove the ability of a seller to offer postal insurance as an option to be paid by the buyer, although the seller may include insurance on their own. My policy will be to include insurance on combined shipments with a minimum value of $50, plus free Media Mail shipping.
I combine items and will discount shipping when items are invoiced, paid and shipped as one transaction. For a single purchase, please use the shipping calculator button to find out what the total shipping charges will be. The shipping calculator is accurate for single purchases but not for multiple purchases. Please wait for an invoice. I use Paypal Shipping; shipping charges include Delivery Confirmation (not available with First Class International only).
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS please select your country in the 'Shipping and Handling' section below for rates.
I can ship items to most countries in a Flat Rate Priority Envelope for $12.30 ($10.40 to Canada and Mexico) (max. weight 4 lb.) or a Flat Rate Priority Box for $39.85 (max weight 20 lbs, $24.65 to Canada and Mexico.). A Flat Rate Priority Envelope will generally hold five standard size magazines. Some magazines are larger than the average modern magazine, which may limit the number of magazines that will fit in a Flat Rate Envelope. Hardback books also are likely to take up more space.
First Class International rates vary from country to country but are based on weight and are usually cheaper than Priority International if the shipping weight is less than 1 pound (450 g). According to the U.S. Post Office, the shipping time is the same – 8 to 10 business days. Since Priority Mail is not delivered faster, First Class International may be a better choice for a single magazine.
Insurance Terms: Insurance will be provided on any combined domestic (U.S.) shipment with a total value of $50.00 or more.
