Vintage hand beaten Homeland pewter dish or platter. It is in the Arts & Crafts style but probably dates from a little later – the 1930s. It is marked W&Co (possibly for C Walter & Co) and measures just under 10.5” in diameter. There are a few dinks around the centre of the platter (see pictures) but otherwise it is in good vintage condition. A relatively heavy item at nearly 650g.
I have many more items in my shop, Carters Collectables – see link in right hand column. I am no expert – I just collect things. I do try and do research on the bits and pieces I get though so try and give as much information as I have been able to get myself. Most of my lots are vintage or antique or otherwise “used” and reasonable wear and tear must be taken into account. Therefore my lots are sold “as seen/found”. If I know that an article is damaged or not working in some way, I will state this in the main description. Buy It Now/Best Offer items (if applicable): I am happy to consider all reasonable offers. If you don't ask, you won't know! My shop's logo is "if you like what you see, but you don't like the price etc............." so feel free to use the Best Offer button Postage: Postage quoted is to UK mainland unless otherwise indicated (and if this item is offered internationally Europe and Worldwide) . International buyers should note that I am NOT prepared to ship items via surface mail because of the number of scams with regard to this method of shipping. I am happy to combine postage where appropriate. Please also see comments in "Feedback" below. Please also see note under Shipping re "lost" items. Finally, I would like to apologise to my overseas customers with regard to the postage costs which sellers must now quote in our listings in order to gain search ratings overseas. To my mind, the Royal Mail overseas postages costs are too expensive and their scale of charges prohibitive (an increment every 20g), but I can do little about that, and I need to cover myself to make sure that I don't lose out when sending overseas. However, once an item is bought, if I can make any economies with the postage charges (without compromising on the packaging), then I will pass this back to the buyer. Payment: should be STRICTLY within 5 working days. I will send one reminder - usually one day after the sale where no payment has been made and I have not heard from the buyer. If payment is not received within 5 working days and the buyer has made no attempt to contact me, I will send notification of my intention to open an Unpaid Item Case or cancel the sale. Please contact me therefore if you have any problems to see if we can sort things out - there are many reasons why a buyer is unable to pay within the specified period but I can do nothing if I am not notified that there is a problem. Payment method: should be Paypal/Debit or Credit Card via Paypal. Shipping: will be within 5 business days of receipt of cleared payment although I will aim to ship the item much quicker than that. I will email the buyer when the item is shipped. If you do not receive your item within 10 working days (2 weeks) of notification of shipping, then please contact me immediately. Please note with regard to items "lost" in the post (UK), unless there are exceptional circumstances, I will only consider a full refund after a period of 6 weeks has elapsed from the date upon which the Post Office might reasonably have delivered the item. This is because, to date, of the small number of items sent within the UK that have been sent out and "not delivered", all of these items have eventually been returned to me because the buyer failed to collect the item from the PO Sorting Office within the requisite 3 week period, leaving me out of pocket. Buyers will be covered under Paypal regulations which allow refunds up to 60 days from the date of purchase. Feedback (including Detailed Seller Rating DSR) I always try to give fair and positive feedback and expect buyers or sellers to do the same. When you purchase an item from me, please consider in addition to the standard Feedback section, what you might give me in the DSR section. Please bear in mind that, although a 4 star rating may seem like a great score, e.g. for Shipping (i.e. quickly), eBay, however, considers this a sub-par mark. They require sellers to maintain a 4.8 average rating or above, or be penalized with higher fees & lower search rankings etc. Postage and packing is also a thorny issue. I try to ensure that my packages are well packed to aid safe delivery and this costs money (not to mention the time taken to package odd shaped packages!). I therefore tack on an additional amount above the cost of postage. Very often this does not meet the cost of materials used in packaging. In addition, if I feel I have overcharged you or if a saving has been made at the time of actual postage (e.g. if the postage rate is lower than I estimated), I will very often refund part of the postage costs. This is not so much a moral policy as a "do as you would be done by" policy - something that I have tried to adhere to all my life. If you were pleased with this transaction, please respond with all 5 stars! If you are not pleased, then please let me know via e-mail, and I'll try to improve my future service.
