VINTAGE TONKA AERIAL LADDER FIRE TRUCK, # 2960, MADE IN CANADA, 1973

You are bidding for a remarkably well kept and beautiful children's toy from the early 1970s. Still in its original box (with some minor damage to the box but no clumsy repair jobs) detailing toy pictograms and the TONKA factory address in Canada, among other details.

It is difficult to find any paint chips to the toy (although there are a couple) but the paintwork is in immaculate and gleaming condition and the fire engine still retains its original TONKA fire department stickers/ decals on the side of the cab.

It still has both its original side ladders, and the raising and extension mechanism for the extendable ladder (operated by the crankshaft and the wheel at the back of the vehicle) is in perfect working order, with its spring still in perfect order with no rust/ oxidisation.

Windscreen in perfect condition as are the smoothly-running wheels (although the windscreen could do with another clean). The only defect is that the white plastic ladder arm has a small amount of sun damage, and is consequently slightly yellower than the other white plastic components.

The toy measures approx. 25" (60cm) long x 8" (20cm) high x 6" (15cm) wide. Box measurements are slightly bigger! The original open-sided box still retains its internal cardboard square to hold the front of the vehicle in place. The box is missing a panel on its left (see photo 6) and one end has some tatty opening flaps. Front lower section of box, bearing the words "CAMION A ECHELLES AERIAL LADDER" (see photo 5) is a little bent and out of shape.
