VINTAGE MELISSA POWDER COMPACT BLUE ENAMEL SWANS Here is a lovely Vintage "MELISSA" ladies powder compact. It is signed on the inside rim of the lid near to the hinge: MADE IN ENGLAND MELISSA. The lid has a dark blue enamel background with a picture of Swans & Signets floating on water with bullrushes & foliage. There are light scratches to the surface & a teeny bit of missing enamel at the top left corner which is due to normal use. Also, you can see bubbles in the enamel when you hold it in the right light & this I think must be from when it was made. Inside the mirror is good, it has a powder tray & filter. The clasp works - it snaps shut but opens only gently. The bottom of the compact is hardly marked & over all the gold tone is in very nice condition. It measures approximately 3".
