VINTAGE MEAD FLAGGON

DIMENSIONS :- 6.1/2" HIGH X 1.3/4" TOP DIAMETER

CONDITION :-   THE FLAGGON IS PERFECT BUT IT HAS NO STOPPER.

MARKS :-         PRINTED IN BLACK A LINDISFARNE MEAD PRODUCTION, (BLURRY)  PAINTING SIGNED P.F ALEXANDER

This very attractive Lindisfarne Mead flaggon is quite old but I am unable to date it accurately as I can find  no information about it, if anyone out there knows anything I would be grateful for any info so I can post it on the ad. The flaggon is a traditional shape with a short neck,flared top with pouring lip,small handle at the top and a broad body that tapers gently to the base. It is glazed over the top half in a deep blue with speckled finish and the bottom half is white with, on one side, a cock pheasant on grass with a tree in the background, and on the other, a hen pheasant lying in the grass with her baby chicks around her and a small shrub in the background and a thistle in the foreground.The painting of the cock pheasant is signed P.F.Alexander and I have no reason to believe that the hen was not also painted by them.A very decorative item that displays beautifully and would make an excellent addition to any collection.Check out my other items!and be sure to add me to your favourites list
