An unusual vintage letter opener 'Brigg & son'. To one side worded With compliments of Brigg & Son 23 St James Street, London S.W and 33 Avenue de l'opera Paris. And to the other side Brigg & Son By Royal Warrant to H.M. the King. This letter opener has a grain like ivory but is quite flexible, so I guess it must be simulated. In very good condition with clear print and no damage. unsure of age but,  pre world war two. 8.5" long.  Brigg produced the rolls royce of umbrellas and are still in production today: Here is a little about Brigg & Son. The most venerable manufacturer of fine English umbrellas started as whip maker as the firm of Swaine Adeney Brigg & Sons, and for excellence of workmanship was presented with the Royal Appointment of whip makers by King George 111. Brigg also manufactured walking sticks, hunting crops. Brigg lost it's Paris shop during the German occupation in World War two. .
