LEGION d'HONNEUR

This door knocker was obviously made to commemorate the fallen during WW1 at Verdun

Légion d'Honneur - This order, the highest French distinction, is awarded to all persons which distinguished themselves through civilian or military valour. The order was instituted early in the 19th century (1802) by the then First Consul, Napoleon Bonaparte, in 4 classes. In 1805 a fifth, and highest class, was added.

A "must" piece for door knocker collectors and those interested in WW1 history particularly Verdun and the French war decoration Legion d'Honneur

How do we pack and post?

All pieces will be carefully wrapped in lots of bubble wrap and posted securely. Where appropriate a new cardboard box will be used. If you purchase more than one item I will “revisit” the p&p costs but please keep in mind that sometimes due to the post office rates it is necessary to send more than one package to keep the postal cost as low as possible. Please be assured that I will always do everything possible to keep p&p costs at a minimum and to post as securely as possible to avoid damage
