Thank you for looking ...
Appearance / Subject: This is a wonderful Victorian Staffordshire kettle teapot. I say kettle teapot because it is a ceramic teapot in a kettle shape. In this case it is in a Jackfield finish – that is a black glaze over a red clay body.
The body is a low circular shape, flattened at the top and bottom with a small upturn at the neck rim into which the lid sinks.
The lid has a simple knob handle.
The handle of the teapot arches over the top of the lid in typical kettle fashion with a central hour glass twist, and a thumb and palm return at each end of this.
The spout is set centrally in the main body of the pot.
It looks a bit like a curling stone in shape (with a spout of course).
It is a simple but superb and eye catching shape.
EXCELLENT GIFT ITEM!
Why not treat a loved one, or yourself?
DISPLAYS WONDERFULLY.
Manufacture: English – probably Staffordshire, (unmarked).
It can be difficult to date this sort of wares, but I would think this teapot would date to circa 1870 (1860 to 1880).
Condition: Excellent / Very Good.
There are no chips cracks or restoration.
There are some minor surface scratches from use.
There has also been some simple gilt line decoration on the pot, but most of this has rubbed off over time, and only a few traces remain.
GREAT BUY!!!!!!
