SUPER VICTORIAN FIGURED MAHOGANY WRITING SLOPE/BOX

I am delighted to offer this nice old Victorian mahogany writing box with a mother of pearl escutcheon to the front and a working key. It would have had a round circle, probably also of MOP but this needs to be replaced. There are some scratches to the top and a neneer repair and sliver of veneer missing on one side (see images). Inside the two flaps are loose and need to be re-covered with either velvet or leather to hold them on. The top flap has two areas of damage to veneer. What is am saying is that this item is a fixer-upper.

The box measures 30cm by 21cm (deep) by 11cm high (when box closed).

A nice example! It is being sold with all faults to study the images BEFORE bidding.
