It is 3/16” long and weighs 8.8 Grains ( 0.6 Gram ). It comes with a location card authenticating the discovery location and certifying the fact that it is a natural platinum crystal nugget. Platinum is currently more than twice the price of gold. Platinum crystal nuggets are extremely rare, much more rare and valuable than regular river worn platinum nuggets. Platinum crystals, like the one on auction here, are the rarest form of platinum and occur mainly in Russia. They are rarely found anywhere else in the world. Truly this is a rare collectors item. Platinum crystals and platinum nuggets are found in their natural state in “placer” form. “Placer” means that the metal has been released by the elements ( water, ice, wind, glaciers, etc ), from its original location ( usually in a vein of some sort ), and has been deposited by the elements to a different location ( often a river, stream, gulley or an ancient river bed ).
