Not a continental import.
This is a superb example of a very individually designed, British Iron Age brooch.
Produced around the 1st century or earlier.
This type is grouped alongside several other early individual types, paralleled with types such as type ZB (plates 42-43) in Hull and Hawkes. Though it is possibly a unique bronze brooch.
Fully recorded with the PAS and identified by Iron Age expert J.D. Hill from the British museum.
Features pairs of projecting lobes, with circular perforations, these were mounting points, which would have held pieces of coral.
Complete with hinged pin (still moving) and decorated catchplate.
A substantial must have addition to any Iron Age/brooch collector. Supplied with paperwork.
Length 40 mm.
Weight 8.3 grams.
