High quality Goto school tsuba from a Japanese Samurai sword, dating from the late Edo period, 1800 to 1850...............in shakudo ( mixture of copper and gold ), with an inlaid silver tablet in the book, which is falling into the swirling water. It is a very attractive design, skillfully made with very fine detailing. The general surface of the tsuba is a very fine ishime ( stone finish ), and overall the tsuba is very smooth, with a beautiful blue / brown patina. ................The tsuba measures 68mm by 60mm by 4mm thick. ....................When photographing the tsuba, the flash gives a whitish bland appearance to the tsuba, in reality it looks much much better...................I originally bought this tsuba about 25 years ago...................A super quality piece. .................................... Please note I ship overseas ! |
