VERY EARLY WARD LOCK GUIDE - NEWQUAY - 1910 - RARE!

This very early Ward Lock & Co illustrated travel guide is one of the original editions of the "red" guides published between 1901 and 1910.  These were the first of those with the famous "coat of arms" design on the cover and with the 1/- net price at the top of the spine, leading to the guides becoming known as the "shilling" guides.  They are full of contemporary photographs, advertisements and fold-out maps.

This particular guide dates from 1910/11.  5th edition revised.  Details as follows :

Area covered : Newquay and North Cornwall, including Bude, Tintagel, Padstow, Perranporth etc. and Lundy Island.

Contents : 110 pages of text.  2 maps (missing) and a sketch plan.   40 illustrations.  90 pages of wonderful old contemporary advertisements.

Overall condition : Very good, apart from two missing maps.

Maps :  The two fold-out maps are unfortunately missing.

Covers : Very good.  Normal wear.  Just slight superficial marking. No damage.

Spine : Very good.  Normal wear.  No marks or damage.

Binding : Very good.

Pages : Very good with normal wear and just some discolouration to the edges.
