Description (revised) Seller assumes all responsibility for listing this item.

These very unusual brushes were part of a consignment of items recently cleared from a large house in Rochester. They both measure 24'' in length but the heads are slightly different sizes. The one on the left is 4 3/4'' in diameter whilst the right hand one is 5'' in diameter. They remind me of the style of Welsh Wedding Spoons. I think they are oak and apparently they were first brought to the house in the 1920's by an old aunt and she had owned them many years before that. Both have a heart shape cut out decoration to the ends of the handles, and one of them still retains a brass ring near the top. The faces appear to be a pewter or copper perhaps and depict a smiling face on one side and an angry face on the other. There's an odd story to the fact that one of them has its angry face missing. Apparently, the old aunt had been given them as a gift but had a particular dislike for this angry face and removed it!  Anyhow, the one with the face missing seems to have been the one of choice to use as its bristles are considerably more used than the other which is still in good condition. The face ends are about 1'' thick. Perhaps for the collector but could well appeal to those who have a liking for folk or primitive art. Postage and packaging on these is £5.65. Payment through paypal, personal cheque, or cash if collecting. Any questions, please ask away and I will try to answer right up until the listing ends. Thanks for looking and happy bidding
