This album has enormous appeal even to those like me who are neither huge fans of folk or country music. For those who discovered the fusion of both styles of music through the BBC first and second series the availability of the music on CD is a huge bonus.

The album brings together a wide range of musicians from the British Isles and the USA, with both better and less well known names featuring.

It is hard to pick out favourite tracks, but John Martyn and Ally Bain from the first series are again on top form, and Eddie Reader makes a joyous contribution. Radney Foster and Ricky Skaggs bring real quality from the USA - and I would recommend the album for Blue Train alone.
