USURY by HILAIRE BELLOC
A fascinating booklet which looks at the basis of the banking world and a central pillar of Capitalism: usury, the lending of money at interest on unproductive loans.
A fascinating book from a political level, but also from a social level and an economic level.
There is also a brilliantly written introduction from the publishers..
A great booklet - whether your interest is Usury finance, history, politics or economics.
Belloc was a famous writer on all manner of subjects from history, biographies, economics, religion and poetry.
With others (G. K. Chesterton, Cecil Chesterton, Arthur Penty) Belloc envisioned the socioeconomic system of Distributism. Belloc was strongly opposed to both capitalism and its alternative socialism. In The Servile State, written after his party-political career had come to end, and other works, Belloc criticized the modern economic order and parliamentary system, advocating distributism in opposition to both capitalism and socialism.
He argued not that Distributism was a new perspective or program of economics but rather a proposed return to the economics that prevailed in Europe for the thousand years when it was Catholic. It has been seen as based on the social teaching of the Roman Catholic Church and the encyclical Rerum Novarum by Pope Leo XIII
This booklet fits in succinctly with his work - and forms an excellent intro to Belloc's views and as an overview of why usury is wrong.

NB: I ALWAYS OFFER DISCOUNTS ON TOTAL POSTAGE TO BUYERS WHO BID AND WIN TWO OR MORE ITEMS FROM ME, but if you are doing this, please let me know after you have won the first item - especially if there is more than just a few hours between the items.

Notes on payment
NOTES
Paypal payers will get their orders sent out promptly. Same day when I can. Within 24 - 48 hours if I'm working away.
Mail-order payers will have to wait for me to collect the mail (usually 2 - 3 times a week) and the temporamental nature of the British Royal Mail.
Postal order payments get sent out on the mail's collection.
Cheque payments take another few days whilst the cheques clear. This means from sending the cheque you may have to wait 2 weeks or so before receiving your item(s). If in a rush - use paypal!
IMPORTANT: When sending a postal payment please put a note in the envelope with your name, address and details of the item that you are paying for. If I do not receive this info I cannot send your item!!!! You'll be amazed how many people send no details or insufficient details - THEN WONDER WHY THEY DON'T RECEIVE THEIR ITEM!
The ideal way to send mail-order payment is to include an e-bay print off statement which includes your details, the items's description and the item's number. Simply staple your cheque (etc.) to the print-off.
If for any reason you are unhappy with anything, please contact me before leaving negative or neutral feedback. If poor feedback is left before contacting me, I will leave equally poor feedback!
If you as a bidder are successful in winning an item, remember that you have a legal contract to buy. If you are not prepared to pay, don't bid!
Email me with any questions you have before you bid....not after. I will TRY to get back to you as soon as I can, but can't promise if there's just a few hours left on the item.
I have had excellent feedback to date.
I can promise you a clean, trouble-free e-baying experience.
THANK YOU
