Very unusual Sony Solid State 9-transistor Radio, complete with matching speaker.
The radio runs from standard cells (see pics, not supplied), which also power the speaker via a special lead (which remains intact).
There's also a mains input but I do not have the lead.
The radio and speaker have separate volume and tone controls, which are in opposing order on each unit as the speaker is designed to sit on the left and the item is supposed to operate as symetrically as possible!
The radio works very well on both medium wave and FM, with remarkable, full sound quality - however, although the sound from the speaker unit is fine, there is no evidence of any actual stereo and the volume control of the remote unit is temperamental. The operation of this might possibly be restored with switch cleaner, however I now have quite a few things to list and do not have the time: you'll also need to clean it up a bit. There is wear, but no particular marks on either unit. It should be mentioned, though, that the remote speaker probably had a lid for its rear compartment to match the battery lid, which remains intact on the main unit. However, as this doesn't actually house any batteries it's probably not too important.
The telescopic aerial is intact, as are all switches.
A fantastic little machine, and a rare opportunity for the Sony collector.
