This is an unusual poison bottle, large probably quart sized, that was originally closed with a swing stopper. Down one side is embossed NOT TO BE TAKEN and down the other side POISON, both sides deeply embossed with verticle ridges. The front and back of the bottle is curved with the front being smooth where the paper label would have been attached. The back is embossed with 5 verticle lines on each side with measure markers horizontally up the middle.
Although the photo doesn't show it the glass is an amber aqua colour it's in very good shiny condition its thick and crude in manufacture but has picked up the odd very small surface scratch due to burial in a long forgotten and bygone refuse tip. I would date this 1910/20's. Due to its large size I wonder if it perhaps originally contained Ammonia.
I can't remember seeing any of these on ebay or at shows in my 30 years collecting, so I'd say it's a scarce item. If you have any queries or would like to see additional photo's please email me.
Please note I do not use paypal, the bottle will be shipped as soon as the payment has cleared.
