Offered for sale is this wonderful and unusual, Victorian, 1800's, plaited mourning hair necklet. Mounted with yellow metal, ornate ends and slide. [appear plated]. The central mount slides, possibly the necklet originally started life as an albert? A wonderful and unusual piece of antique memorial jewellery.
The necklet is completely made from hair and has been intricately woven and plaited. Four rows, working slide to the centre. Measures 14 inches in length approx. [end to end]. The clasp is white metal and appears a later dog nose clasp and ring.
This is just one of several items of fine antique mourning hair jewellery, being listed this week. They came from a small collection of similar jewelley.
Condition is very good, hairwork is in good order, it is in strong condition, minor dings and minor wear to the plating. As mentioned above the clasp and ring are later.
