Description:
If you want to view all the hip stereoviews of the 1800s you'll need the Rolls Royce of viewers and this, the wooden Underwood & Underwood stereoviewer is just that.
Made in rich mahogany(?) this viewer has a movable card stand for those who are near, far or just poor sighted! Further to this is has a retractable handle, face cupping sides (to drown out light) and the original glass/lenses.
This superb device will come to you in excellent condition, if not with just a little storage dust!
It comes with 8 stereoviews including four very rare ones which we believe to be older than most. These rarities are in pink or orange, are much thinner than normal stereoviews and have their information written on the sides/reverse in pencil...they catelogue places in Savoie, Greece and Paris.
The other four cards are the more usual Underwood & Underwood type. Each of these is a general scene, one of children in snow, one of a flower green house, another of a jungle and the last of a snowy forest.
On the whole the cards are just like the viewer in condition - excellent. The only note worth mentioning is that the Underwood & Underwood snowy forest card is a little light in our mind...but this might just be because the subject was entirely white.
Any questions? Please ask!
