An ultraviolet sterilizer is a canister unit which allows water to be passed through it at a specific flow rate. As the water passes through the unit, it passes a quartz (glass) sleeve and is exposed to harmful radiation from a germicidal (ultraviolet) bulb.  The rays from the bulb destroy algae spores, bacteria, fungus, viruses, parasites, protozoans and other free floating, undesirable aquarium and pond pathogens...resulting in CRYSTAL CLEAR water that is both stunning to see and beneficial for all aquarium and pond fish and invertebrates, including all salt water, freshwater and brackish, both tropical and sub-tropical species.
