The DS3408-SF digital imager by Symbol/Motorola is a professional, powerful and super-rugged barcode scanner that reads all normal barcodes plus 2-D barcode types such as this example.

Its imaging technology means it is an omni-directional scanner - the barcode will read at any angle and does not have to lined up with a single scan line. It is in unused open box, mint condition, manufactured 2008, with plug and play USB cable, and like all our scanners, works perfectly. HOW DOES IT WORK ?  The imager illuminates a wide area, defined by corner angles and a centre crosshair as an aid to aiming. Barcodes are read instantly when they fall within range. If several barcodes are close together, the one nearest the centre will read. Whilst on the stand the scanner auto-senses barcodes placed underneath it, turns on automatically and gives an instant read. Connecting barcode scanners through USB is great where you don't have a normal ps/2 keyboard required by the older style ps/2 keyboard scanners, or where you need to connect to a LAPTOP. The first time the scanner is connected to the USB port the keyboard emulation Windows HID (Human interface driver) installs and thereafter when a scan occurs the characters from the barcode appear on screen at the current cursor position as if they had been typed in, so any application that will accept typed characters will work with this scanner!
