"On May 5th Lieutenant C.C. Champion Jr., U.S.N., with a "Wasp" engine in the Navy "Apache" Sea Plane attained an altitude of 33,455 feet, the highest point ever reached by a sea plane of any type. This marks the fourth World's Record made by the "Wasp" in as many weeks.  This new record is additional proof that the characteristics of the "Wasp" engine are unequalled for high altitude performance."
