A Genuine goatskin rug originates from a hardy breed of longhaired goat in China and Mongolia uniwue in the world for their silky and soft under wool.
The longer 'guard' hair protects the goat from the elements and the under wool keeps it warm. This under wool is also spun and woven into the world famous 'Cashmere' wool used in making fine woollen garments.
The hair is used for textiles and carpets, and other by-products form the staple diet in the rural commumities where these goats are farmed.
It is chemically processed and occassionally slight shredding may occur. This is harmless and will not deteriorate or effect the goatskin rug.
MAINTENANCE
The goatskin rug is for light use only. keep away from open fires and strong heat. Do not wash. Brush frequently with stiff wire brush and shake out daily. Dry clean as reccommended when required OR apply a little Whire spirit, brushing the pile vigorously and leave to dry naturally.
This is a unique long haired goat skin which is not lined and stitched.
