UB07 Korvettenkapitän Georg Lassen Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves Cross U-boat Commander hand signed 5 x 7 black and white photograph

Each photo measures 5" by 7" with a white border on all sides with the signature handsigned on the specially elongated bottom margin.
The photograph is from the 1939-1945 period and has been reproduced and then signed by Korvettenkapitän Georg Lassen Knights Cross. The photo is accompanied by a brief career history.
This signed photo forms part of a limited edition of U-boat Commanders signed Photograph Series many of whom were awarded the Knight's Cross for their actions. This is number 7 in the series of 10 Photographs so far issued, produced by ourselves. Each photograph has been handsigned and they are all numbered and certified on the reverse. Each photograph is a limited edition of 150.

For more than a year Georg Lassen was 1st WO (Watch Officer) on the very successful U-29 under Kptlt. Otto Schuhart. They sank 12 ships for a total of 80,688 tons as well as the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Courageous. From January to September 1941, Kptlt. Georg Lassen was the commander of U-29, which at this time was a training boat in the 24th U-boat flotilla. On 16 October 1941 Lassen commissioned the Type IXC U-boat U-160, and on his first patrol as commander in March/April 1942 he sank or damaged six ships for a total of 43,560 tons. During his last patrol in South African waters, he sank or damaged six ships in less than 5 hours for a total of 41,076 tons on the 3/4 March 1943. Three days later he received the Oak Leaves cluster to the Knights Cross. Lassen then became a tactics instructor and the chief of the "Offiziers-kompanie" in the 1st ULD (U-Boot-Lehrdivision).
