WELCOME TO BULGARIA

Bulgaria is a beautiful mountainous country, small in size but rich in ancient culture, scenic splendor, friendly people and old-fashioned warmth and hospitality.Situated in the south east of Europe on the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria is not as much a tourist destination as its Greek and Turkish neighbors to the south are. This despite the popularity of its Black Sea resorts, which are scenically captivating with their fine sandy beaches, sunny climate and safe seas and wonderfully inexpensive too.

Although better known for its sea resorts, the essential character of the country is to be found in its spectacular mountainous regions. The six very different ranges vary from high, snow-covered peaks to gentle green slopes and forests, harboring thermal springs and mineral spas, and valleys where the air bears the fragrance of flowers and herbs. The Valley of Roses lies in the heart of Bulgaria and is the largest producer of rose oil in the world, giving root to Bulgaria's soubriquet, 'Land of Roses'. At the foot of the Vitosha Mountains lies the laid back capital city, Sofia, boasting a great number of architectural monuments and museums. The rugged heights of the Rila and Pirin mountains form a spectacular setting for ski resorts, as well as the famous Rila Monastery and the majestic landscape of the Pirin National Park, a World Cultural and National Heritage site. Crossing the entire country is the Balkan Range, a 435-mile (700km) chain that offers some of the best hiking in Europe.

As varied as the different mountain ranges are the people who dwell in them, with distinctive customs, crafts and colorful festivals, folklore, religious beliefs and speech. Small picturesque villages welcome guests with typical warm-hearted Bulgarian hospitality, sharing age-old traditions and traditional cooking, and a delight in their pastoral environment.

Bulgaria's history is displayed across the country in its old towns, ancient Thracian relics and treasures, decorated churches and monasteries, and in the rustic settlements that have preserved the traditional beliefs of its people. One of the country's biggest assets for visitors is its variety, but whatever aspect one chooses to explore, there is always the assurance of a warm welcome.

YOU MUST BE HERE TO FEEL THE SILENCE, THE SONG OF BIRDS, SMELL THE GRASS, WAFT OF SEA BREEZE AND IT WILL MAKE YOU A REAL HAPPY - THIS IS ONLY HERE AND NOW

Close to the village (6 km.) there is a small dam, giving great opportunity for fishing or just having a nice picnic.

Close to the village there is a big forest, full of wild strawberries and a lot of herbs. Great place to have a walk and just breathing the clean air.

The forest is also hunting area, so if  you have interests in hunting-that’s the place for you. There is a lot of game in the forest- rabbits, wild boars, dears and foxes.

When visiting the municipality town General Toshevo, if you suddenly decide to see the beautiful Bulgarian north coast of Black sea, you just have to go ahead for 25 km to Balchik town-ancient town founded by the Thracians, and then developed by the Greeks and the Romans. There is a direct connection to Romania (Danube River) and Black Sea. The Dobrich-Town municipality is located in the Dobrich district, which consists of eight municipalities: Dobrich-Town, Dobrich-Region, Balchik, Shabla, Kavarna, Tervel, General Toshevo and Kroushari. Population

According to the data from the census of the 04.12.1992, the municipality's population numbered 119 814 inhabitants. In recent years, a lasting tendency towards a reduction of the municipality's population, which is typical of the country as a whole, affirmed itself. In terms of the age of the population, the common tendency for the country is that the portion of people 65 years old or more is growing up, while the portion of children 15 years old or less is going down – a proof of the fact that the nation is getting old.

The territory of the Dobrich municipality falls into the Temperately Continental Climatic Sub-Zone of the European Continental Climatic Zone. The average annual air temperature is 10.2°C. The absolute temperature minimum was registered in January - minus 22.7°C, and the maximum - in August and September - plus 39.1°C. The springs are comparatively cool; the autumns are warm because of the warming influence of the Black Sea. In winter the impact of the north-east air masses is more pronounced, which causes the greater differences in the thermal level through the year. The precipitation is characterized as weak - averagely 540 mm per year, with a clearly shown continental regime. The summer maximum is in June, the winter minimum - in February. 80% of the annual precipitation falls in summer. Despite the comparatively low altitude above sea level the snow-cover lasts up to 2.5 months. The northeast winter winds cause the drifting and re-laying of the snow-cover and its heaping into deep snow-drifts. The region is windy, with a low percentage of calm weather - averagely about 20% per year. The main wind transfer is from the northwest, with a high velocity of the winter winds and a low velocity of the summer winds. The average relative air humidity is 78%. In the winter period the humidity reaches 85-86%, and in summer decreases to 68-69%.

The Republic of Bulgaria covers a territory of 110 993 square kilometers. The average altitude of the country is 470 metres above sea level. Have a look on the slideshow below it shows some of our historical memorials, bank holidays and beautiful buildings

Rugged snow-capped peaks and soft green slopes, cool forests carrying the aroma of herbs and wild fruit, quick-flowing rivers and crystal-clear blue lakes, mineral springs and bioreserves, rare plants and game, large climatic and ski resorts and small picturesque villages with living traditions and folklore every Bulgarian mountain has its own characteristic appearance…

This is how the ancient Greeks called the Black Sea, a sea that is indeed tempting and hospitable - clean and calm, without any tides or dangerous animals. The sandy sea bottom slopes gently, making bathing and swimming safe for even the youngest holidaymakers. The Black Sea is half as saline as the Mediterranean. The Bulgarian coastal stretch faces east and extends over 378 km, dotted with vast beaches covered with fine golden sand. The majority of Bulgaria beaches have been awarded the EU Blue Flag for their environmental excellence. Air temperatures in summer vary between 23°C and 27°C, water temperatures between 17°C and 25°C. There are more than 240 hours of sunshine in May and September, and more than 300 in July and August. The deep-cutting coves and rugged shores, wooded hills and romantic peninsulas, vineyards and orchards, fishing towns and secluded campsites lend a unique fascination to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
