bidding is on an excellent Trio KD500 transcription turntable dating from the seventies.
The Trio has a cast marble effect anti-resonance base, it weighs an absolute ton and the manufacturer says it is acoustically deas.
a copy fo the manual i found online has this to say about the plynth,..........This unit employs resin concrete which is the first cabinet material used in this field. Its excellent acoustic characteristic is represented by vibration proof performance which is the key to the *no resonance* charecteristic performance particularly neccesary for the turntable. You can be pleased with the high-fidelity record reproduction enhanced in combination with the superb characteristics of the Direct Drive motor such as high S/N ratio, sufficient howling margin, eminent tone quality etc.
This is a fantastic bit of engineering, in good condition with only a few minor marks. compared to many other turntables of the period this stands head and shoulders above the rest in both design and technology
This turntable has been used with an SME 3009 and so has an SME cutout
There is no damage to the plinth, the labels have a couple of marks from transportation and the lid which was stored off the turntable (we had a cover which went over the entire unit) has a slightly warped side (see pics) and the a couple of small cracks near the hinges, however for the age of this unit it is lovely, runs smoothly, both speeds and trims work will as does the strobe
