This Cornish Top Bar Hive from Heatherbell Honeybees is especially designed and adapted for UK (Europe) beekeeping. Includes everything you need to keep bees naturally (except bees, beesuit and know-how but I can also provide these, see my other items listed). I hope the FREE tutorials on disk explain everything you need to know to keep bees in this hive, simply and naturally but I'm happy to provide 'after sales technical support'.

It is the natural simple alternative to the standard national hive and is ideal for the beginner for back garden or urban rooftop beekeeping. These hives have been tried and tested, you are buying from an experienced professional beekeeper and bee breeder so you can be assured of qualified advice. I am now taking orders/bookings for honeybee nucleus colonies for 2010.

1/3 size (7 comb) mini hives also available.

includes:

  • instructions
  • 19mm untreated (there are many different suitable wood treatments generally available) FSC pine construction
  • light weight, insulated, gable roof
  • varroa screen and adjustable, removable solid floor
  • bolt on legs (including bolts, washer & wingnuts)
  • entrances at both ends and moveable end board enabling the hive to be split without needing extra kit
  • 26 especially designed top bars dipped with our beeswax to help straight comb building

This Top Bar Bee Hive is the same specifications as listed above with the addition of a 24" x 5" Observation Window and Panel in the side. This is a real pleasure to have, allowing the bees to be seen without opening the hive. The window is accessed by removing the panel which can be kept secured in place when you're not having a peek!

Design advantages compared to a 'conventional beehive':

  • less disturbance to the bees whilst inspecting means less stressed bees
  • the whole colony is allowed to free range through the hive
  • only 1 hive needed, even when 'splitting'
