Three Piece VICTORIAN Silver TEA SET Hallmarked 1931 NR

Birmingham - Super Design - 32+ troy oz - V LARGE SIZE

This is a really outstanding, heavy English VICTORIAN STYLE solid sterling silver THREE PIECE tea which was made in Birmingham, England in 1931 by the illustrious Victorian silversmith, William Aitken at his Vyse Street workshops. This wonderfully stylish and fine quality set comes from a private house and is in superb condition. It consists of a beautiful teapot, a pretty milk jug and a two handled sugar bowl. Every piece is fully hallmarked with W.A, anchor, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), G showing that each piece was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1931. This wonderful set has a stunning and very stylish Victorian oval cushion shape with a generous decorated border, a black composition handle and finial to the teapot and is raised on four elegant feet. This set is NOT engraved. This set is a full sized tea set, and is of excellent quality and very substantial. The set weighs 1002.7g - giving a total weight of virtually 32 1/4 troy oz.

The teapot (capacity of over 1 3/4 imperial pints) measures 4 7/8" wide, 10 7/8" from spout to handle and stands 6 1/8" tall. The milk jug measures 3 1/8" wide, 5 7/8" from spout to handle and stands 3 7/8" tall. The sugar bowl measures 3 3/4" wide, 7 5/8" across the handles and stands 4" tall. The sugar bowl is in lovely condition with just the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, almost no distortion and no dinks or dents. The milk jug is in lovely condition with only the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, NO dents or distortion and NO dinks. The teapot is in lovely condition with just the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, no distortion and NO dents and NO dinks. The teapot finial is very firm with NO distortion and NO looseness and NO spring to the hinge. There is little play to the teapot handle - with little wear. Very minor defects that I mention only for complete accuracy. A really lovely VINTAGE set as you can see from the photographs in lovely condition after almost 80 years- at a VERY low start and NO RESERVE - This is about as good a large English teaset as you will find anywhere!! Postage will be 10.00GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.

Please note that the primary postage costs are for second class (or standard parcels service if the postage cost is over 6.00GBP) within the UK or surface mail to international destinations. First class post usually adds 50% to the quoted postage cost while airmail is typically double the cost of surface mail. If you want to know about the timescales and charges by Royal Mail then I suggest you look at http://www.royalmail.com. Please wait for my invoice with postage options that will be sent very soon after the auction finishes!

If you win more than one of my auctions, I am happy to combine packaging to reduce postage costs.

Low start and a no reserve auction because reserves spoil the fun.
