I am delighted to offer for auction a lovely first edition second printing of the second part in Tolkiens masterpiece trilogy The Lord Of The Rings.Publsihed in the uk in 1955 by george Allen and unwin this is a great find especially in such nice condition and is a great gap filler until you can afford the £1500+ for the first printing.The book is as follows....
Bound in original red cloth boards this is a very good example.The boards remain tight and relatively square holding there full colour well and remaining clean.Light bumped corners else untouched.Internall the book is again clean throughout free of owner names and inscriptions with nice clean pages.Ever such slight offsetting to the endpapers else again a really nice example.Top edge stained red as should be which hasnt bled and the original map to the rear is attached and in fine condition.The book is housed in a stunning facsimile jacket further protecting the book whilst giving it back its original appearence.This rare book certainly presents very well on the self.
Offered with no reserve and a silly start this is a must for tolkien collectors and enthusiasts alike.Good luck and please view my other items for many more scarce first editions.
