The Little Eaton Gangway 1793-1908 by D. Ripley. Published by Oakwood Press 1st edition 1973. 27 pages paperback. Book size 8.5" x 5.5". This interesting book tells the story of this, one of the earliest mineral tramways in the Midlands which was situated at Little Eaton, near Derby. The contents describe its early history, construction and maintenance of the line, rolling stock, the route, extensions and improvements, Little Eaton basin, Little Eaton to Smithy Houses, trade etc. Also has appendices including a report by George Stephenson on the proposed railway to be built in place of the Little Eaton gangway, branches of the gangway and byelaws. Illustrated with sketch maps and black/white photographs. The cover of the book is a little worn with edge and corner rubbing, rubbing along the spine and small corner creases. Inside there are small corner creases, very slight yellowing on page edges otherwise in overall good 'used' condition.
