Brief History    :  This is one of the most beautiful butterflies because of the iridescent violet-blue on the upper surface of the wings in male. Wingspan is about 50-60 mm. Male, UpF with two large and one small subapical spots, discal white spot in space 3 shifted outwards out of line with others, HW discal broad white band and ending at vein 1b, a series of submarginal white spots clearer on HW than on FW, HW tornus and apical spots in spaces 6 and 7 orange. UN is pale silvery blue, FW with a prominent orange postdiscal spot with black in the center in space 2, HW post discal band reddish with its outer edge bordered by irregular narrow black band, marginal border reddish-brown. Female is larger than the male, without bluish suffusion on the UP, FW with a prominent postdiscal black spot in space 2. Lfp. Ulmus lancaefolia (Ulm.)
