You are bidding for a The Friedmann Visual Field Analyser MK2

Description of the Friedmann Analiser 2

The instrument presents visual stimuli to a patient by means of an electronic flash tube. The stimuli are presented from a fixed black stimulus plade (1) in the form of patterns of a small point flashes. these stimuli are presented in patern of two, there or four small points which flash once each time one of the firing buttons (2) is pressed. there are 31 different patterns which are changed by means of alever. (3) the patterns are identified by letter of alphabet.

the brightness of the stimuli can be changed by turning the filter density knop (4) at the back of the instrument, clockwise to increase the idensity, and anti-clockwise to reduce it, the idensity is shown in the display window (5); the higher the idensity value the dimmer the stimuli,

The back plate from which the stimuli are presented is illumianted by a ring(6) which ensures even background illumination this ring is switched on or off by a switch (7)

for all switches "O" means off and "I" means "ON". the background illumination level is 10.76 lux( 1 lumen/sq.ft)

the patient's chin-rest is adjustable using the knob (10) the patient's eye under should be lined up centrally with the auxiliary lensholder if the lensholder is not in use. THe forehead rest (14)is fixed.

there is a recording console (15) with four clips (16) to hold chart. wo location pins(17) fit into the indents on the chart. when the chart is in place, small points of light shine thought it in position corresponding with the chosen pattern presented to the patient. An additioanl light point will be seen at the top of the chart, indicating which pattern is being presented. the chart illumination is swithc on the switch (9) and its intensity is controlled by the knob(18)

Colour and other filters may be interposed by rotating the large wheel (19) which has identification letters marked on it. what there letters donete is explained in the table (20) on the console together with the corresponding filter indication light marked IND (21)

The instrument end of the mains supply lead (23) connects at the rear whilst the other end should be connected to a suitable mains supply (24) should always be set at the correct value, 110 volt - 220 volt - 250 Volt

A buzzer is provided. If the buzzer switch is in the ON position when the firing button is depressed the buzzer will be sound for a about 1 second, followed by a short delay about 1/2 second,  followed by the flash of the stimuli. when the buzzer is switched off, the flash will operate immediately the firing button is pressed.

if the firing button is held down, the buzzer will sound, followed by theflash, this sequence will repeat for as long as the firing button is held down is held down, the flash will fire repeatedly. this practise is not recomended bue to the normal heating effect of the electronic flash tube in the instrument.

the buzzer is provided to indicate that the patient should look at the fixation target. this is an important aid. various fixation targets are provided. the target is puched into the central aperture well which is covered by a lid. To remove the lid the two knobs are turned so that their face one another.

the black stimulus plate and bezel assembly (29) is removable by pullinh it off evenly and firmly. this will reveal a while diffusing screen which becomes the stimulus during dark adaptation tests( see user manual). when replacing this assembly, it is important to take care and the front assembly pushed firmly home on to the four internal securing clips.
