This is a very strange book- THE FACETIOUS NIGHTS OF GIOVANNI FRANCSCO STRAPAROLA DA CARAVAGGIO, VOLUME 2, printed and published for THE SOCIETY OF BIBLIOPHILES. I did find the publication date but didn't write it down- I think it was 1908 or 1909. I bought the book beause it is so beautiful. The 'linen' boards have a gilt drawing of the front and gilt lettering on the spine. The spine ands and corners are lightly worn but the cover is geberally very good. It was printed with the pages uncut so the sides and bottom of the leaves have been cut by hand. The top is gilt. The paper is lover quality- a bit like CONQUEROR but slightly lighter. The book is 21.5 by 14.5 and there are 399 pages all in clean condition and the binding is tight. There are 6 beautiful slightly sepia small illustations. They are quality lithograhpic prints (not photographic and there is not the impress of an etching) They are separately printed on a page (no text back) and protected by a tissue leaf. Really beautiful. NOTE I have just found a 10.5 cm rip across page 309. BUT the book is lovely, full of VERY STRANGE  goings on!
