Printed in Tunbridge Wells in 1797, ‘printed and sold by J. Sprange [and possibly written by him] at his Circulating Library’.

Complete and illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, title, dedication and 12 plates (6 of which are folding), also with an engraved table of distances.

Internally there is a little foxing and browning, but nothing too severe,

especially considering the age of the book,

the pages have a slight bluish tint which is characteristic of books of this date.

Bound in contemporary speckled calf, with an onlaid lettering piece to the spine,

externally it is now a little worn and dried out,

the joints are split and there is chipping to the head and foot of the spine and corners as well as a larger chip along the top-edge of the back cover.

A real rarity, there are two copies in the British Library but I cannot find an original edition anywhere else on line,

although a modern reprint is available – but who wants one of those when you can have a beautiful period copy!
