"The Victory Book" was published in Britain in 1945, just after the end of the war against Japan. The title page dedicates the book "to all the peoples of the world who kept the flame of freedom burning in mankind's darkest hour". The book begins with an account of the VE Day celebrations and then a look at the "Leaders of Democracy", both civil and military, mainly through photos. The bulk of the book, however, is a general account of the Second World War, providing an overview of world events but also looking at specific topics in more detail such as "Coventry", "Ark Royal Lost", "Rescue Work", "Hospitals Carry On", "Drama of Repatriation" and so on Illustrated throughout with maps and plenty of black and white photos, this is a very interesting account of events, written soon after they had happened. Hardback, approx 9x6" with 325 pages. There is no dust jacket. The covers are blue with a design in relief on the front (this does not show up well in a photo, hence the one here is of the title page). There is some wear and tear to the covers but overall they are in good/very good condition. Inside is generally very clean and tidy with no writing or inscriptions but one page does have a small tear and a few others are slightly dog-eared. Published by Odhams Press Ltd in London. Will be sent securely packaged, bubble wrapped and in a bubble envelope.
