"The Two Types" by Jon, is a collection of cartoons featuring two British 8th Army officers (the "types" of the title) that first appeared in the army newspaper "Eighth Army News". This is a collection of those cartoons "Produced by the British Army Newspaper Unit, C.M.F. for the fighting men of all ranks and services in this theatre. Distributed by the Directorate of Army Welfare Services A.F.H.Q". There is no publication date but it is clear from the (limited) text that this was published towards the end of 1944 when the Allies were about "to spend another winter in the Italian Hills". This has soft covers, is approx 9x6" with 52 pages. As mentioned above, there is some text but the vast majority of the book is cartoons. There is some wear and tear, some dog-eared pages, some slightly crumpled corners. The paper used was not of the highest quality because of wartime restrictions so has yellowed with age. The single, central staple has rusted very slighty and a few of the central pages are looser than they should be, although still attached. Overall it is still in very good condition, clean and tidy throughout and a very readable and collectable copy.
