THE SCHOOL AT THE CHALET by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer (part of the Chalet School Series). Published by W & R Chambers Ltd. Reprint. 1950.

Miss Brent-Dyer tells of a young English woman whom, when left with still younger members of the family depending on her, turns to school-keeping as the only means open to her of carrying out her object. A charming spot in the Austrian Tyrol is chosen for the experiment and she has soon around her a good number of pupils of diverse characters, but all exceedingly interesting personalities. A classic children's book of the 1950s.

Brown cloth boards with black lettering on spine. The front and rear boards have marks and creases. The spine is in a poor condition and actually coming away from the main text of the book. The internal pages are intact and in quite good condition: there is slight foxing on the edges of the first two pages and all internal pages. The dustjacket has numerous small tears, marks and old sellotape marks. Unclipped.
